Dhi Qar

One of the most important cities in the south, and the location of Ur’s ziggurat. It is one of the most ancient temples. It was constructed in 2100 BC by Sumerian King Ur-Nammu, the founder of Ur. Dhi Qar also includes the marshes, which were previously inhabited by Sumerians. In addition to the ancient archaeological cities nearby, such as Eridu, UNESCO inscribed the marshes as an international nature reserve on the World Heritage List.
